BX650
Filter System
The BX650 provides a maximum flow rate of 650 gallons (2400
liters) per hour. Use it stationary on one tank or move it from tank to
tank. Multiple body lengths (4, 6, 8 and 10 inch) enable use
of the BX650 in tanks with varying solution levels and depths.
The BX650 comes complete, preassembled, ready to operate and
includes the items shown in the labeled photo below. Click here to see BX650 video. For best results in
most metal-finishing solutions, use the BX650 with our Permacore Magnum
Reusable or Poly-Spun Disposable filter cartridges in the appropriate
length. See this link for cartridge mounting photos.
BX650 Specifications
Pump: Available in CPVC, polypropylene, and PVDF (Kynar) as pump materials of construction. Standard internal shaft is made of 303 stainless steel covered with Teflon heat-shrink tubing. As a precaution for aggressive solutions that may attack SS, a titanium shaft and a Hastelloy-C276-alloy shaft are available for pump-body lengths of 6, 8, and 10 inches. Click here for help selecting materials of construction.
Flow Rate: 650 gallons (2400 liters) per hour at 60 Hz. A
flow-rate reduction of about 18% (plus or minus 3%) is typical when operating at 50 Hz.
Pressure: 10 feet (3 meters) of head pressure.
Weight: About 9 pounds (4 kg) in CPVC, depending on pump body
length
Motor: Epoxy coated, rated at 1/15th hp (50 watt), single phase,
3000 RPM, TEFC, thermally protected. Electrical cord is 10 feet (3 meters) long. When ordering, specify one of the
following motors:
(1) 115 volt, 60 Hz, 2.3 A
(2) 230 volt, 50/60 Hz, 1.3A
BX650 Pump-Body Length
All Flo King pumps are manufactured in different pump-body lengths to accommodate the freeboard (distance from top of tank to solution surface) and, in many cases, tank depth. To ensure priming and proper operation, solution
must be 1 inch (2.5 cm) or more above Weep Hole on BX650 pump body. The Impeller is located just beneath the Weep Hole and must be submerged in solution for the pump to operate. See this link for photo explanation.
Specify length of pump body when ordering. If you are not sure which length is required, supply all of the information requested at this link and we will recommend a system.

BX650 Dimensions
To determine the pump-body length of a BX650 you already have, measure the "A" Dimension (from bottom of Motor Base, where pump is mounted on tank, to center of Discharge Port, where solution is expelled from pump). Then see table below for corresponding pump model.
"A" Dimension | Pump-Body Length |
4-1/2 inches (11 cm) | BX650-4 |
6-1/2 inches (17 cm) | BX650-6 |
9-1/16 inches (23 cm) | BX650-8 |
10-3/4 inches (28 cm) | BX650-10 |
In-Tank Space Requirements
Most customers use the BX650 with our High-Flow 45-Degree Elbow and Outlet Extension installed on the Discharge Port, where solution is expelled from the pump. As shown here, about 5 x 7 inches (12.7 x 17.8 cm) of in-tank space is required for this arrangement. The 45-Degree Elbow and Outlet Extension allow you to direct the solution flow where desired. The Outlet Extension also streamlines flow from the High-Flow Elbow.
Without the 45-Degree Elbow and Outlet Extension, about 4.5 x 4.5 inches (11.4 x 11.4 cm) of in-tank space is needed.
Below is a view of the Motor and Motor Base.
When used for filtration, the BX650 is often used with one filter cartridge. It can also be used with an optional Double Cartridge Holder accessory to hold two filter cartridges at once (photo below).
The BX650 includes a Universal Bracket to secure the pump on tank mounting surfaces up to 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick and 4-3/4 inches (12 cm) wide. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the two screws, slide the Universal Bracket in or out to the desired position, then tighten the screws.
