FAQ

MY PUMP MOTOR SHOWS SIGNS OF CORROSION. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO PREVENT THIS?

In general, here are some suggestions for using Flo King pumps in hostile environments:

• The factory cannot provide warranty protection for pumps installed in highly concentrated acids and extremely aggressive caustic solutions. In these cases, expect relatively brief motor life and use the pumps at your own risk.

• In corrosive and/or hot environments, the Flo King pump must be mounted in a well-ventilated location for maximum motor life. The pump must not be mounted in front of the ventilation exhaust, as this will have the effect of putting the motor in a continuous path of hot, corrosive fumes.

• Some customers brush one or two coats of a thin corrosion-resistant maskant on the exterior surface of the new Flo King motor. This may help protect against perforation corrosion of the painted steel motor housing. One such product is Miccrotex (an air-dry rack coating), available from Tolber Chemical Division, Hope, Arkansas, USA (tolber.com). Note that the maskant will only help prevent corrosion on the OUTSIDE of the motor and will not protect the internal motor components, such as the bearings.

• For the BX1200 and BX650, we offer a polypropylene Ventilation Hose that fits over the motor. See this link for vent hose photo, along with a plastic duct assembly you can fabricate yourself for the BX650, BX1200 and larger pumps.

• In the event a motor is disabled, we offer a complete factory repair service or you can purchase and install yourself a replacement Motor/Shaft Assembly. See this link for repair procedures and parts photos.
