FAQ

LAB SERIES REPAIR INFORMATION
It is very difficult for customers to replace the motor alone on the Lab Series. Most customers with disabled motors send their complete pump to our factory repair service or purchase a Motor with Balanced Shaft Attached for repairs in the field.

MOTOR/SHAFT REPLACEMENT
See this link for disassembly instructions and step-by-step photos for replacing the Lab Series Motor/Shaft Assembly.

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR LAB SERIES
Before ordering a Motor/Shaft Assembly and many other repair parts, you must first fully identify your pump. See explanation below.

The Lab Series is available in different body lengths and materials of construction to satisfy the many chemical solutions, temperatures, and tank variables used in metal finishing. Performance and price vary accordingly.

Explanation: The "weep hole" and impeller must be submerged at all times, or the pump will not operate. Like the propeller of an outboard boat motor, the Impeller spins at high speed and cannot perform its task without liquid contact. Solution should be at least 0.5 inch (1.27 cm) above the lower weep hole on the Lab Series.

IS SERIAL NUMBER AVAILABLE?
First, check to see if the Flo King Serial Number Label on the motor is still visible.

serial number label

If the Serial Number label is no longer available or is illegible, follow the instructions below.

Note - Some Serial Numbers Untraceable: We are unable to trace some Serial Numbers, particularly older ones, because they were entered in a now-outdated database, so it is always a good idea to provide the information requested below.

MEASURE PUMP-BODYLENGTH
See the dimensional drawing below. Measure the "A" Dimension (from bottom of the Motor Base, where the pump is mounted on the tank, to the top of the threaded Discharge Port, where solution is discharged from pump). This area is highlighted in yellow.

Then refer to the chart below to determine if you have the PP-LBS2, PP-LBS3, PP-LBS4 or PP-LBS6.

"A" Dimension Pump-Body Length
2 inches (5 cm) PP-LBS2
3 inches (7.5 cm) PP-LBS3
4 inches (10 cm) PP-LBS4
6 inches (15 cm) PP-LBS6

MOTOR REQUIREMENTS
Specify motor voltage — 110 or 220 volt.

OTHER PARTS
If you need parts other than the Motor/Shaft Assembly, specify the pump material of construction. The most common material by far is polypropylene (white in color).

We also offer Kynar (PVDF), a very expensive, yellowish-white material for certain high-temperature applications in neutral and acid solutions.
