FAQ

WHY IS MY MOTOR RUNNING HOT OR SHUTTING OFF?

It is normal for Flo King motors to run "hot to the touch." There is an internal thermal protector that prevents the motor from running too hot. If the motor temperature exceeds the upper limit of the thermal protector, the motor will automatically shut off until it cools sufficiently, at which time the motor on most models will re-start automatically.

Of course, if the motor trips a circuit breaker or shows other abnormal electrical behavior, the motor may be damaged or defective and require replacement.

Electropolishing and other very thick ("high-density") solutions can cause the motor to overheat and shut off. In these cases, we offer "high-density" modifications so that the motor will not overwork, overheat and trigger the thermal protection device to shut off the motor.

See this link for information about high-density pumps.
