FAQ

I WOULD LIKE TO USE DISPOSABLE FILTER CARTRIDGES. WHICH MICRON RATING SHOULD DO YOU RECOMMEND?

As a rule, if the the tank contains minimal solids, consider the 20-micron Poly-Spun disposable filter cartridges, if moderate solids the 50 micron, and if heavy solids the 75 micron.

poly-spun group

See this link for Poly-Spun details.

The 20-micron is our most popular disposable cartridge for the majority of electroplating and associated metal-finishing solutions.

If the 20-micron cartridge is not fine enough to remove very small particles from solution, the 10-micron cartridge is another common alternative.

In some cases, 5 or 1 micron is specified, but not nearly as often as the larger micron ratings. Cartridges with very low micron ratings are tightly spun and will reduce the flow rate and agitation of the pump. They may also clog prematurely if larger particles are removed from solution, leading to frequent, costly filter cartridge changes. In the worst-case scenario they may cause the pump to cavitate and aerate because the pump intake is starved for solution.

Micron ratings are not universally consistent among different manufacturers. In other words, if you have 20-micron cartridges from two different manufacturers, you may find differences in dirt-holding capacity, flow rate, and other performance features.

Poly-Spun disposable cartridges are available in lengths of 4, 6, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 inches (10, 15, 25, 38, 50, 75 and 100 cm)
