HOW TO SELECT BX3000 PUMP-BODY LENGTH
The BX3000 is available in different pump-body lengths. Solution must be at least 3 inches (7.62 cm) above the BX3000 "Weep Hole" at all times, or the pump will not operate. See drawing at right.
Explanation: The Impeller is located just below the Weep Hole. Like the propeller of an outboard boat motor, the Impeller spins at high speed and cannot perform its task without sufficient liquid contact. See this link for photo explanation.
If you already have a BX3000 and want the exact same body length, measure the "A" Dimension (from bottom of Motor Base, where pump is mounted on tank, to center of Discharge Port, where solution is expelled from pump). The "A" Dimension is highlighted in yellow below. The adjacent table shows the corresponding pump-body length, which is the order number.

How To Select BX3000 Length for New Application
If you need a BX3000 for a new application, measure the freeboard (distance from top of tank to solution surface), then refer to the table below. The most popular units are the BX3000-10, BX3000-12 and BX3000-14.

BX3000 with Double Cartridge Holder (DCH)
Next, measure the tank depth. Most customers use the BX3000 with a Double Cartridge Holder (DCH), which allows the use of two filter cartridges at once instead of just one. This adds filter surface to solution and prolongs the time between filter changes. See table below to determine the maximum length filter cartridges that will fit in your tank with DCH attached (or with the optional Quad Cartridge Holder, which holds four cartridges at once).
Important! Measurements below are with the Permacore Magnum Reusable Filter Cartridge, which is 1 inch (2.54 cm) longer than the Poly-Spun Disposable Cartridge, the Carbon Cartridge, and the Standard Magnum Reusable Cartridge. If you intend to use the Poly-Spun, Carbon or Standard Magnum cartridges, you can subtract 1 inch from dimensions below.

BX3000 with Single Filter Cartridge
Occasionally, customers use the BX3000 with one filter cartridge rather than two. See table below to determine the maximum length single cartridge that will fit in your tank.

BX3000 with Strainer Instead of Filter Cartridge
If you want to use the BX3000 exclusively to recirculate and agitate the solution, and do not want a filter cartridge on the pump, you must install a Pump Strainer Adapter (PSA) to protect the Impeller from damage due to any foreign objects that might be in solution. The PSA adds about 1 inch (2.54 cm) of length to the pump, as shown below. Click this link for PSA and other BX3000 parts photos.

BX3000 with Horizontal Cartridge Adapter-Special (HCAS)
On very rare occasions, the tank may be too shallow and the freeboard too extensive to use the BX3000 with filter cartridge(s) in the conventional vertical position. In this event, either one or two cartridges can be positioned horizontally in the tank using the Horizontal Cartridge Adapter-Special (HCAS). The HCAS adds about 4 inches (10 cm) of length to the pump, as shown below. Click this link for HCAS and other BX3000 parts photos.
